Hotel Review of InterContinental Johannesburg Sandton Towers

Interior InterContinental Sandton Towers

The InterContinental Johannesburg Sandton Towers is ideal for convention-goers and business travellers thanks to a convenient location and business friendly amenities.

The hotel is a short cab ride from Sandton station and walking distance to everywhere that matters (Nelson Mandela Square, Sandton City Shopping Complex and Sandton Convention Centre).

For those who don’t want to cross the street, accessible from the tenth floor Skywalk is the Sandton City Shopping Complex and Sandton Convention Centre.

I was checking in amongst a group of ten plus people, but the waiting was more than bearable with refreshments on hand in the lovely lobby.

The check in staff was very friendly and helpful, treating everyone as individuals rather than just the next face in the queue.

***Guests are charged a hefty holding fee on their credit card, refundable on check out.

Light South African touches in decor are tempered with top amenities and elegant design.

A walk in wardrobe (and place to store your suitcase) leads onto a decadent bathroom well away from the main room. Two magnifying mirrors, a hairdryer and the little toiletry touches for which the InterContinental brand is renowned made me regret bringing my own.

A safe actually large enough to store goods is in the same hall leading to the bathroom, really giving you the room to not feel like you’ve just arrived and are just about to depart.

Add to this a BOSE iPod dock, TV and DVD player (DVDs are available from the Business Centre) and a great coffee machine, and you’re set to settle in and get to work or relax in front of the box.

Irons are available from Guest Services although there are pressing, dry cleaning and laundry facilities available.

Complimentary wi-fi in all the rooms and lobby makes getting the job done or catching up with your life at home MUCH easier. Couple this with potentially the most comfortable office chair I have ever sat on and working in this room was a luxury.

TCH Business Centre located on Level Ten offers guests access to meeting rooms, secretarial services, translation/interpretation services and all the services to help guests conduct business easily and happily.

All day dining is on offer at the Atrium at the Towers on the ground floor of the hotel, while guests can access the restaurants of the Sandton Sun easily.
