Guests experience the sounds of Soweto in Sydney

Last week, South African Tourism together with Etihad, hosted guests at the iconic Sydney Opera House to test their vocal chords with the Grammy-award winning Soweto Gospel Choir.

Treated to a pre-show party, guests from the travel and arts industries were also given the opportunity to meet the choir and sneak in a special pre-show performance.

The electric atmosphere featured stunning performances of recent songs such as In the Arms of an Angel and Oh Happy Day! as well as old favourites like Joy, Peace and Happiness, Shosholoza and Bridge Over Troubled Waters that have made them one of the world’s most popular and much-loved choirs.

“We had a brilliant night, full of great music, laughs and a little bit of dancing – exactly the type of experience you could expect to find in South Africa,” said Lalie Ngozi, General Manager, Australasia, South African Tourism.

After having just completed their sixth album, the Soweto Gospel Choir’s music has picked up an Emmy, two Grammy awards and an Oscar nomination.
