Hotel Angeleno, Los Angeles

Located where Sunset Boulevard meets the 405 Freeway, Hotel Angeleno offers a cultured and sophisticated stay ideal for the discerning traveller. Sarah Wrightson experienced a three-night stay at this savvy hotel as part of a hosted trip with the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board.

With 208 guestrooms, including three one-bedroom suites, all with their own private balcony and views, four unique meeting spaces, a heated outdoor pool and lounge area and a full fitness centre, the hotel provides all the amenities guests need during their stay.

Their exquisite bed ensures a good night’s sleep, featuring pillow-top mattress, premium cotton linens, and fluffy feather duvet and down-around pillows – pure bliss! Guests can also enjoy complimentary valet parking, free wireless internet and a courtesy shuttle service to nearby Westwood, UCLA, Federal Building, Brentwood and The Getty Centre Museum.

The property’s iconic circular structure has served as an easily recognisable Los Angeles landmark since the 1960’s – it even had a cameo appearance in the Death Ride episode of Starsky and Hutch! The design boasts a casual yet confident interior and a modern, understated exterior finish.

The hotel’s popular penthouse level New American restaurant and lounge, West, offers unparalleled breath-taking 200-degree views of the Los Angeles skyline, Pacific Ocean and the Santa Monica Mountains.

Guests and locals are welcome to enjoy happy hour with drinks from as little as USD$5, 4pm to 7pm daily.

Its warm and inviting atmosphere is the perfect place to enjoy breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. I dined here one evening and enjoyed their beautiful seafood saffron paella served with smoked Andouille, peas and red pepper. The seafood was cooked to perfection and the saffron flavouring was divine.

The hotel also offers a complimentary wine hour each night, 5.30pm to 6.30pm, in the lobby for all guests. This special evening tradition is a great opportunity to mix and mingle with other guests, meet the hotel’s friendly staff and enjoy a nice glass of wine after a day of meetings, travel or fun.

Hotel Angeleno is located at the base of the prestigious Santa Monica Mountains, bordering Brentwood and Bel Air. The property is the closest hotel to the world-famous Getty Center Museum and easily connects guests to Beverly Hills, UCLA, Santa Monica and a plethora of southern California attractions. The perfect base to explore all Los Angeles has to offer!
