TravelManagers, Australia’s leading personal travel manager network continues its personal approach with its recent round of state based, dedicated face-to-face training sessions for personal travel managers.
TravelManagers Executive General Manager Michael Gazal says the training is a consequence of feedback received from personal travel managers.
“We constantly encourage feedback and foster the understanding that we all work together towards one end, being mutual success. Due to the complexities of airline ticketing and ever-changing airline rules, initial feedback was heavily based around the need for fares and ticketing training. A focused training plan was put in place across the country.”
Jose Canas, TravelManagers’ Fares & Ticketing Manager was responsible for facilitating the training sessions in Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane.
With the emphasis on fares and ticketing training, the sessions in some states quickly expanded at the personal travel manager’s request, to include a variety of topics to meet their local needs, explains Gazal.
“The benefit of working regionally with our personal travel managers is that we can cater to their local and individual requirements. This resulted in individual tailor made training plans by state. The training was personal and relevant which ensured record attendance. We had to do an extra training session in Melbourne and had 100 percent personal travel manager attendance in Tasmania, so we know it’s a winning formula,” he says.
In addition to Canas’ training, the Sydney training session included airline presentations from Singapore Airlines, Delta Airlines and Emirates whilst the Hobart training included a finance session on budgeting, a Tramada Next Gen discussion and a time management presentation.
“This is the first event of this nature in Tasmania and the group discussion and interaction that was created by exceptional and relevant content was excellent and so beneficial. I learnt so much in such a short space of time,” says Kirsty Whittaker, representative for Hobart.
An overriding response from the personal travel managers was they valued the practical training sessions and thought provoking interactive discussion that was achieved through face-to-face training.
“The ability to be more interactive and bounce ideas off each other was invaluable. Webinars are great for short updates but for more complex information, you can’t beat the face-to-face approach from the experts. The fact that the training was also tailored to our requirements by state was also fantastic, it made it really worthwhile to attend and I can’t wait for the next one,” says Jo Geary, representative for Somerville, Victoria.
With the overwhelming request for more training sessions, TravelManagers will look to implement more optional training modules at their twice yearly state meetings and other dedicated sessions throughout each year.
“Personal travel managers have always enjoyed our inclusive strategy, strong leadership from our national partnership office and support from their locally based business partnership managers. Training sessions are just another extension of our support for our personal travel managers,” says Gazal.
