Taiwan Tourism wins Gold and Silver

The Taiwan Tourism Bureau recently received two prestigious awards for its innovative Taste Taiwan campaign, produced by Myriad Travel Marketing. The 30-minute “Taste Taiwan” special, which took three North American chefs on a culinary tour through Taiwan, garnered the PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) Gold Award for tourism marketing media (https://www.pata.org/pata-gold-awards/) and a 36th Silver Telly Award for online broadcast media (https://www.tellyawards.com/winners/list/?l=W&event=16&category=3&award=S) .

In taking home the PATA Gold Award, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau outperformed 269 entries from more than 60 tourism organizations worldwide. Less than 10 percent of entries are chosen as winners of the Silver Telly, the highest honor in the Telly Awards, with 13,000 entries from 50 states and five continents.

To promote tourism from the U.S. market, Myriad Travel Marketing created Taste Taiwan, a multi-faceted marketing campaign, to brand the Taiwan Tourism Bureau as a culinary destination in the heart of Asia. Three award-winning North American chefs were selected to participate in an eight-day culinary journey through Taiwan and then brought their experiences to the table in the U.S. Their travels were filmed into a 30-minute show that aired on CNBC, HGTV, and National Geographic Channel in late 2014 and early 2015. The chefs indulged in Taiwan’s finest restaurants and experienced the island’s fresh produce markets and eclectic street food, among other adventures. In one special visit, they visited Sun Moon Lake, which was selected by CNN as one of the most breathtaking cycling routes in the world. Taiwan Tourism Bureau is honored to receive the PATA Gold Award and the Telly Award, and with its record-breaking 9.9 million tourists in 2014, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau will continue to promote Taiwan tourism in the U.S. market and aims to welcome 10 million visitors in 2015.

The PATA Gold Awards are prestigious annual prizes in tourism that are recognized all around the world. PATA has been contributing significantly to regional tourism since 1951. As a non-profit organization, PATA has carried out important research and hosted numerous high-profile events and meetings for its members, including governmental agencies, international carriers, airports and sea-freighters, and educational institutions in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, videos and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.
