Acting CEO suspended after receiving allegations.
South African Airways (SAA) board of directors placed the airline’s acting chief executive, Vuyisile Kona on suspension, after receiving allegations against the temporary head honcho.
Although details of allegations are yet to be revealed, the suspension, which came into effect on 11 February 2013, allows the airline to investigate accusations, Bloomberg reported.
The board added it expects to find a permanent replacement by 31 March, however, in the meantime SAA’s low-cost subsidiary, Mango chief executive Nico Bezuidenhout will act as the interim boss.
Earlier this month, SAA was awarded the 4-Star Airline ranking for 2013 by Skytrax.
